Tips for creating the perfect Nursery space

Designing and styling a baby nursery can be an exciting and creative project. Here are some tips to help you create a beautiful and functional space for your little one:

  1. Choose a theme or colour scheme: Decide on a theme or colour palette that reflects your style and preferences. You can go for a traditional theme, such as animals or nature, or opt for a more contemporary or minimalist look.

  2. Select a focal point: Choose a focal point for the room, such as a crib or a wall with a decorative mural or wallpaper. This will create a visually appealing centrepiece for the nursery.

  3. Consider the layout: Plan the layout of the room carefully, keeping in mind the flow and accessibility. Place the crib away from windows and cords, and ensure there's ample space for you to move around comfortably.

  4. Invest in essential furniture: Prioritise the essential furniture pieces, such as a crib, changing table, dresser, and a comfortable chair or glider for feeding and bonding moments. Opt for furniture that meets safety standards and consider its functionality and longevity.

  5. Add soft lighting: Install soft lighting options, such as a dimmable ceiling light or a bedside lamp, to create a soothing and calming atmosphere during nighttime routines or feeding sessions.

  6. Use a mix of textures: Incorporate a variety of textures into the nursery to add depth and visual interest. Consider using plush rugs, soft bedding, and curtains made from different materials to create a cozy and inviting environment.

  7. Include ample storage: Babies come with a lot of stuff, so it's crucial to have sufficient storage solutions. Use bins, baskets, and shelves to keep toys, clothes, and other essentials organised and easily accessible.

  8. Personalise the space: Add personalised touches to make the nursery feel special. Namely Co blankets and pillows, Hang artwork personalised Jumpers and clothing, frame family photos, or create a gallery wall with prints and illustrations. You can also consider incorporating the baby's name or initials into the decor.

  9. Ensure safety: Safety is paramount in a nursery. Secure heavy furniture to the wall to prevent tipping, cover electrical outlets, use cordless window coverings, and choose non-toxic paints and materials for furniture and decor.

  10. Create a cozy reading nook: Designate a cozy corner for reading books and cuddling with your little one. Place a comfortable chair, some plush pillows, and a small bookshelf filled with age-appropriate books.  We love using our Namely Co Playmat to really personalise the space and make extra cozy.

Remember, as you design the nursery, prioritise creating a peaceful and nurturing environment that will support your baby's development and provide a calm space for both of you to enjoy.
